MG Motor India has showcased the MG4 electric hatchback at Auto Expo 2023.
The MG4 is currently being evaluated for the Indian market. Globally unveiled in July 2022, the MG4 is a born-electric car, which is based on parent company SAIC’s modular scalable platform.
Dimension-wise, the MG4 is similar to the more familiar ZS EV SUV, but the MG4 comes in a more fun hatchback avatar. The design is sharp with some crossover design cues. While the exterior is sharply styled, the interior is rather minimalistic. The dashboard has sleek, horizontal lines, with two floating screens for the infotainment and the instrument cluster as the focal point. The centre console, which stands out with a rotary dial and wireless charging pad, is an intriguing addition here. The MG4 is equipped with a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, and ADAS.
The MG4 EV is offered in international markets with two battery packs: 51kWh and a bigger 64kWh; the former produces 170hp, while the latter produces 203hp. Both variants have a torque output of 250Nm and a single-motor, rear-wheel drive configuration.
According to MG, the smaller battery pack has a range of up to 350km, while the larger one has a range of 452km on the WLTP cycle. The MG4 EV can be charged with a 150kW DC charger.
